Customer stories on how our craftsmanship and care deliver beautiful homes
I have known and worked with Jeff for quite a few years and he's and excellent builder and designer. He's very knowledgeable in different types of construction and building types plus he's a pleasure to work with which adds to the 5 star rating he deserves
Design Classics has been a pleasure to work with. They are very detailed oriented and care about all aspects of the home building process. I highly recommend them.
Classic came through and did a great job following up on everything.
Well, this is going to be a long one because after reading the last review I feel like I have to defend The Design Classics Team a little bit. (I am in no way related to Jeff or anyone in his company) First of all, having a custom house built in 7-8 months is "possible" but I don't think it's reasonable to hold a custom builder accountable to that time table. Too many things can happen during that time. If you want a house built in 6 months, you will need to go get one of those pseudo-custom "cookie cutter" builders to do the job. But with Jeff, you can have a home that is truly custom. My house took 11 months from signing the contract to move in. And that's after we were hit with all kinds of set-backs that were nobody's fault. My first PM (project manager) was great, but he had to leave the company on VERY friendly terms because he was moving. Jeff had LOTS of projects at the time, so it caused some set backs. Jeff hired a new PM who seemed great and qualified at first, but it turns out he did not treat the 3rd party workers well. Jeff learned of this and within a week the new PM was let go. Jeff requires highly trained and highly professional people to work for him and this makes it very difficult to find the right employees. He even became my personal PM for a time until he brought in April. April stayed as my PM until the end of the build. During this time we had huge storms that knocked part of the house down before it could be properly stabilized. I didn't pay a dime to have it fixed. Jeff went out there personally and cleaned up the debris. He and his insurance payed for everything. He then went the extra mile and had the engineers redesign that part of the building to be EXTRA wind proof. (it is an exterior covered drive way, like at a hotel entrance) It would have been fine with the original plans, but Jeff wanted to make sure that it wouldn't even come down in a hurricane. In fact he also had them put hurricane straps all throughout the house, just in case. Once again, no extra cost to me. I had a slight creaking noise occur from a pipe that was attached a little too tight to a stud. Jeff made the original plumbing company come out there, cut open the already completed and painted drywall and fix the issue. No cost to me. This was a small issue but Jeff and April made it perfect. The wrong window was installed by the window people. Jeff and April had them take it out and fix it. Never did they try to get me to "live with it", no, they just made it better till I was satisfied. THINGS HAPPEN! Your custom home is a design that has NEVER been built before. Certain things can not be predicted. Some 3rd party contractors mess things up on ANY job. The important thing is that the builder corrects it or finds another 3rd party contractor who will do a better job. If the 3rd party tells Jeff they fixed something, but they didn't fix it correctly, it's Jeff's job to fire that 3rd party and find a new one (which he did in the case of the roofer he used right before my house) If Jeff won't pay them for bad work, and they threaten a lean on the home, then good for Jeff. Jeff and April were always there to fight for me at every turn. I am a micro manger when it came to all the billing. I was never double charged for anything. If that really happened to the other customer then that was a big mistake and I'm positive that it was not done on purpose by Jeff. Mistakes happen, even at my business where I'm the boss. That's life. But I can honestly say I believe that these types of mistakes occur at Design Classics at a much lower rate than your average builder. The homes i see going up across the street from me are pitiful. I only know this because I now have a much better idea of what are good and bad materials and methods for building a house. My house is twice as big and the energy bills will be less than these houses across the street I can guarantee. Jeff only builds quality! If you have the means to go with a custom builder, and you live in the DFW area, I can only recommend Design Classics.
It is so great to have a top of the line home builder, who does great custom work, here in little (D). I would be proud to hang one of my custom crystal chandeliers in one of their homes. {We are located in very same zip code}
Very professional. Great people
